Our engineers have helped put the finishing touches to Vox nightclub in Aldershot. Some new speakers were needed for the third room at the club and due to space constraints it was necessary to hang them from the ceiling. A pair of Tapco 6925 speakers were chosen for the job as these provide a good full range sound without the need for a separate subwoofer. The only drawback with this decision was the fact that the speakers are manufactured without fixing points for hanging. This was not a problem for our engineers who fitted flying points inside the speakers allowing the speakers to be hung and positioned to give the optimum coverage for the room.

Prior to this the nightclub had undergone a complete refurbishment and having spent in excess of £10,000 on paint alone the venue has been totally transformed. Their existing sound system consisting of Mach loudspeakers with Ecler amplification and processing was still sounding great so very little was changed here, however a great deal of time was invested in getting the lighting right with Martin Professional effects being used extensively throughout the club. A high power three colour laser was also installed and programmed to great effect by reflecting the beams off the mirrors of the Martin Mania lights. Miltec water and flame lights have also been used to provide atmospheric lighting along with Tryka RGB colour changing LED fixtures around the bar areas.

Guildford Sound & Light was the sole supplier of all of the sound and lighting equipment for the project. After specifying the equipment we passed on the necessary knowledge to the club’s technical staff to ensure that they got the most from their new toys, only helping out at the venue when things got a little tricky.
