Guildford Sound and Light are proud to announce they have just completed the sale of one of the largest sound systems to the African Continent.

The parent company of www.djdeals.co.uk have major clients around the world but have always had strong links with a number of clients in Uganda.  In late 2008, one of our clients approached us with a unique and exciting project - To supply a sound system of the highest quality, capable of touring throughout Uganda to audiences of up to 50,000 people.

Guildford Sound And Light Technical Director; Matthew Ross and General Manager; Kieron Scott designed a number of options and in early 2009 our clients accepted a proposal for a KV2 Audio System together with an ALLEN & HEATH iLIVE desk.  Kieron takes up the story...

"Conditions in Uganda can be challenging and our client's requirements were quite complex due to a number of factors.  We had a budget to work to and as this was a portable system, physical size, set up time and ease of use were important factors.  KV2's Technical Director; Andy Austin-Brown gave valuable assistance when working on the finer details of the specification. Due to the distance between our company and our client, there was a huge amount of trust put in us and our ability to deliver a system capable of delivering the exceptional quality expected in a country so passionate about their music.

A team from Guildford Sound and Light and KV2 Audio flew to Uganda earlier this year to meet the equipment on arrival and train the staff from the Events Company on the product and test the system at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, venue of a imminent major musical event in Kampala.  Kieron continues...

Many countries have not had first hand experience of KV2.  Uganda is certainly used to seeing huge numbers of cabinets and there was a certain amount of cynicism due to the relative small number of boxes being used.  KV2 product is amongst the most efficient in the world and delivers incredible performance.  We arrived in Kampala on the Friday and it took until the Monday afternoon to have the entire product prepared and flown on two towers and ready for presentation.  The reaction was truly incredible and something that will never be forgotten.  Our client had over 50 staff present as Andy and I played the first track and every anxious face turned to pure joy.  Within minutes, the cricket ground was filling up with local people and the words on everyone's lips was "Amazing!"

Just Ten days later, I flew back to Uganda with our Technical Director Matthew Ross for the first event. This was an all day carnival with an evening event which attracted over 25,000 people.  Worldwide reggae star Shaggy headlined the event and his technical crew and sound engineers could not stop praising the system.  Shaggy even announced to the massive crowd that he would play an additional set as the system was so incredible.

Needless to say the system designed and supplied by Guildford Sound and Light with the impressive back up and technical expertise from Andy Austin Brown at KV2 is now winning accolades throughout the continent.  We have just been awarded a further contract to supply additional sound re-inforcement for the huge 120,000 National Stadium and Guildford Sound and Light is currently working on a number of projects in neighbouring Rwanda.
