It's three sheets to the wind for the Tereza Joanne; a floating venue recently added to Guildford Sound & Light's hearty crew of happy customers!

The team at Guildford Sound & Light have successfully completed a variety of diverse projects, however we're still pleasantly surprised to recieve briefs of a unique and challenging nature. The Tereza Joanne was certainly no exception to this. We had to achieve extremely high SPL's with a very low false ceiling....... on a boat overlooking the waters of the Royal Docks, a stone's throw from City Airport.

The client knew the brand they wanted, but appreciated that without the system being designed, specified and installed correctly, they'd be fish out of water. So we strapped on our best sea legs and climbed aboard, accompanied by 2 x KV2 Audio ES1.0 mid/hi cabinets, 4 x KV2 Audio ES1.8 subwoofers and a pair of EX26 speakers. After a typically jaw dropping KV2 Audio demonstration, the order was placed on the spot.

In keeping with the decor, KV2 Audio custom painted the ES1.0's and EX26's in white. To achieve maximum clearance, the ES1.0's were mounted horizontally such that they protrude at an angle down through the false ceiling, and the EX1.8's were positioned in two stacks mounted on wheel boards so that they can be moved when not in use. The EX26's were used as side fill and were mounted in the same way as the ES1.0's. To achieve this, we requested that KV2 Audio produce custom mounting hardware and wheelboards. Finally some clever DSP units by Apex and Symetrix were integrated to tame the beast, so that this high power, hi-tech system can be effortlessly used by people of all abilities.

Once in situe and delayed correctly, the system worked incredibly effectively. It sounded even better than in the original demo, filling every area of the boat with amazing clarity and impressive output levels. There were smiling faces all round, and no doubt that the crews of the Tereza Joanne and Guildford Sound & Light have certainly pushed the boat out!

With the requirements for high SPL's, maximum clearence and flexibility within the physical space available, and automated processing to provide ease of use to any potential operator; a lesser Pro Audio company may well have been in for a long haul.

Not so for the able crew of Guildford Sound & Light. We went the whole nine yards to stem the tide, and had a whale of a time doing it!"
