A Whole New Ball Game

Guildford Sound & Light help Horsley Sports Club up their game with a fantastic new sound system! Horsley Sports Club is a Tennis and Cricket club which has been established for over 75 years and currently has over 1000 members. They have a popular club house that is constantly used for a variety of activities, and they came to Guildford Sound & Light with a requirement to upgrade their sound system. They wanted a solution that would be suitable for all of the uses of the club house, whilst keeping the budget for the system as low as possible. The variety of activities held at the club house include day to day socialising and light refreshment requiring background music; barbecues, themed suppers, and after-game food and drinks where the music volume varies; and situations where the system needs to be capable of higher volumes, for quizzes and discos etc. We knew that the ability for the sound system to cope with higer volumes, whilst remaining warm and clear at lower volumes was extrememly important in this environment. The obvious choice for these circumstances was the Martin Audio AQ5 speakers, as they are relatively small, inconspicuous units, that provide a smooth and high fidelity sound at all volumes, from subtle low levels to high SPL's. It was also mentioned that the staff and clientele of the club like to play music from CDs but also often ask if they can plug in various poratble media players, such as iPods etc. Because of this we specified a Tascam CD200i professional CD player, which also features an iPod dock as well as a line input socket. Finally we suggested the Citronic PPX900 amplifiers, DMS2-6 DSP, and 8U rack case, to provide the power, control, protection, and storage for the system. These units offer fantastic features and reliability, whilst remaining budget friendly.
