AlphaTheta DDJ-FLX2 Setup Guide
PHONE / TABLET USERS
- Visit the App Store or Google Play Store to download rekordbox for your mobile device.
- You can connect to the DDJ-FLX2 either wired or wirelessly. A wired connection is the better method and can be done using the included USB-C cable. If you have an iOS device with a Lightning connector such as an older model iPad, iPhone 14 or earlier then you will need connect via bluetooth as shown in the video above.
- iPhone 14 and earlier users who want to connect speakers and headphones will need a Lightning to Audio Jack Adapter and a Stereo Jack to Mono Jack Splitter Cable.
- If you have an older iPad with the Lightning connector and a headphone output you will need a Stereo Jack to Mono Jack Splitter Cable to connect the speakers and headphones.
LAPTOP USERS
- rekordbox for Windows or macOS should be downloaded for free from here - https://rekordbox.com/en/download/
- The laptop System Requirement are shown on the download page above. If your laptop doesn't meet these requirements then it is not capable of running the software.
- When you connect the DDJ-FLX2 to your computer running rekordbox it will unlock the Performance Mode and a tutorial will open to walk you through the controller. A new install of rekordbox will automatically start a 30 day free trial of their Core Plan. You can ignore this as the controller will work during the trial and continue to work after that has expired. You do not need to subscribe to one of rekordbox plans to use the DDJ-FLX2.
- Chromebooks are not supported.
CONNECTING SPEAKERS
Connecting your AV:Link speakers
- The lead needed to connect your speakers is in the AV:Link speaker box. It is an aux lead that connects the speaker output on the DDJ-FLX2 (or splitter cable from your older iOS device) to the AUX input on the back of the powered speaker.
- Press the MODE button on the powered speaker until you see a red light next to BT/AUX. This shows you have selected the AUX input.
Connecting your DM-40D speakers
- The lead needed to connect your speakers is in the DM-40D box. The small jack plugs into the speaker output on the DDJ-FLX2 (or splitter cable from your older iOS device) and the white and red connectors plug into Input 1 on the back of the powered speaker.
- Make sure that the cable connecting the speakers has been stripped back to bare wire. The wire needs to make contact with the metal part of the spring loaded terminal in order for the second speaker to work.
